Sequential Storytelling
Initial ideas & Research
Sequential- (adjective) Forming or following in a logical order or sequence: a series of sequential steps

Narrative- (noun) a spoken or written account of connected events: a story: a gripping narrative, storytelling.
For my initial research, I explored a series of ethical topics which had links to a psychological background, exploring mental health disorders and elements of the unconscious mind and personality. I researched Freuds psychodynamic approach and Jungs archetypes and how both are highly influential in explaining how we behave. I wanted to determine the most sufficient way to communicate these ideas of human behaviour and emotions within art, experimenting with facial expressions, body language, and the influence of light and dark to create an atmosphere, with the aim to convey a deeper meaning and message across.

Drowning
I originally wanted to explore the concept of drowning, stemming from my research into phobias and anxiety disorders, potentially exploring this idea by looking at ways to illustrate how water can consume and overpower a person.
However, I wanted to develop this concept further and create a more powerful meaning in relation to the impacts of mental health on an individual, not reducing the idea just down to my research into phobias, but ultimately exploring the effects of anxiety and depression and how these influence our emotions. Further questioning if we have the ability to demonstrate such emotions through the use of drawing.
